Founded in 2016 by Renita White and incorporated in 2019, Of Color, Inc. is a Chicago-based nonprofit led by African American women, serving communities affected by housing instability and workforce disconnection.

We are actively recruiting board members to support our mission of creating equity and opportunity across Chicagoland.

Who We're Looking For

Established professionals in fundraising, legal, financial, or governance areas. Influential leaders with strong networks. Changemakers with lived experience in housing insecurity, youth development, or veteran services.

You don't need a nonprofit background — you need a commitment to equity and a willingness to roll up your sleeves alongside a mission-driven team.

Time & Commitment

4 + 4

Four board meetings annually plus four additional committee meetings (development or finance), all on weekday evenings.

$1,000

Annual giving requirement — waived for members joining with lived experience in the communities we serve.

3 + 3

Two consecutive three-year terms. Long enough to make a real impact, finite enough to keep the board evolving.
